INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY: Berks Nature Fall 2025 Internship

We strive to offer our interns a well-rounded learning experience. An interest in the environment and stewardship is a must, and there is often work to do outdoors. Berks Nature also manages a nature preschool and hosts numerous field trips and events. Working with children and the public is a priority.

Good writing skills, communication skills, interpersonal skills, and a genuine appreciation for working with diverse audiences are all necessary.

NOW HIRING: Counselors for the 2025 Summer Eco-Camps

(March 6, 2025)

The Eco-Camp Assistant Counselor supports the daily operations of the group, helping children build responsibility, independence, and executive functioning through transformative experiences. Key responsibilities include teaching outdoor and recreational skills, organizing group activities, and maintaining the safety and well-being of the campers.

Berks Nature’s Eco-Camp is a day camp (no overnights) that is run Monday through Friday from June into August.

We are currently looking for counselors to help lead campers at both of our Eco-Camp locations (Reading at The Nature Place and Hamburg at Kaercher Creek Park).

NOW HIRING: Delaware River Watershed Fellow

(February 13, 2025)

The Delaware River Watershed Fellowship is a paid, 12-week internship from June through August at one of 23 environmental education centers in the Delaware River Watershed. Fellowships are aimed at inspiring and equipping young adults to become ambassadors for the Delaware River and its entire community.

As a member of this network of environmental education centers, Berks Nature is seeking their own Delaware River Watershed Fellow for the 2025 season.

No environmental experience is required! Preference will be given to candidates living in the greater Reading area of Berks County.

Updated Trail Access in Neversink Mountain Preserve’s Brush Fire Zone

(December 20, 2024)

Please be advised: All trails impacted by the November brush fire on Neversink Mountain are now safe to explore. This includes all trails west of Neversink Mountain Road. These trails have all been cleared of debris and potentially hazardous trees damaged in the fire have been removed.

NOW HIRING: Berks Nature Preschool Substitute Teacher

(November 8, 2024)

A Berks Nature Preschool Substitute Assistant Teacher is responsible for the health, safety and overall wellbeing of children ages 3-6 years of age.  They will perform activities that ensure the safety, involvement, and creativity of each individual child in the group. They will also work cooperatively with the lead teacher to discuss and aide in the implementation of daily plans in accordance with the curriculum.

Berks Nature Preschool spends the majority of their school day outside exploring in nature. The Assistant Substitute Teacher will spend their days outdoors in all weather.

Compensation: $16-20 per hour (based on experience)
